N...now, see, this is why being a historian is cool. Not only do you know how to track down and weed out the crazed-Clarett stories, but you also know the etymology of the term "taser". And know that i know that "taser" does not literally mean "gun that tases," i will not use any forms of the word as a noun.Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07649331188080230301noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24675950.post-1155313466215932792006-08-11T12:24:00.000-04:002006-08-11T12:24:00.000-04:00cheesehead,I have to admit I had similar thoughts....cheesehead,

I have to admit I had similar thoughts. I've actually had similar thoughts at a number of times when Clarett's managed to do something stupid. Needless to say, I have had many opportunities to think these thoughts!RogueHistorianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11573695051575323278noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24675950.post-1155313289010674462006-08-11T12:21:00.000-04:002006-08-11T12:21:00.000-04:00Erin,You're welcome. It was kind of fun tracking all of this down and there is more that I did not include, simply because the post was getting rather long.

I would have been inclined to "tase" him in the face myself, but I would have to think that doing so might cause some major problems. Most tasers send out 200-300 kilovolts (high powered electrical lines are often 110 kV and up). The reason tasers usually aren't lethal, even with this level of voltage, is that the amperage is very low (2-3 miliamps, whereas 100 mA is usually considered lethal) and the duration of the shock is very short (usually no more than 2-3 seconds).

I don't think "tase" is a real word, but I say if you want to use it, go right ahead. I can tell you that Taser really stands for "Thomas A. Swift's Electic Rifle," after the Victor Appleton stories.RogueHistorianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11573695051575323278noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24675950.post-1155271267463688612006-08-11T00:41:00.000-04:002006-08-11T00:41:00.000-04:00While reading the latest on this, I just kept shak...While reading the latest on this, I just kept shaking my head and thinking WTF is wrong with this guy? I considered blogging about the same subject but you did a better job than I would have. He is, indeed, a dumbass!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24675950.post-1155263125942882412006-08-10T22:25:00.000-04:002006-08-10T22:25:00.000-04:00gotta love that judge. I'm glad you gave the backs...gotta love that judge. I'm glad you gave the backstory because i picked up the trail when i heard "taser" on the news. My question: if you can't tase (word?) thru kevlar, why didn't they just tase (really, word?) him in the face? That's what i would do.Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07649331188080230301noreply@blogger.com
