Some News I Bet You Didn't Know About

I am pretty sure that most of you have heard about "Ernesto" - the storm which hit Florida late Tuesday night. Sure you have, it's been on the news for days now. But here's some news you probably didn't know about. There are two other major storms, which the new has, for the most part, been ignoring.

Hurrican John is a Catagory 4 hurricane, which is currently getting ready to hit the western coast of Mexico. It's expected to dump as much as a foot of rain. Surges are predicted to reach 18 FEET above normal. Winds are reaching 135 mph.

And then there is a Catagory 5 "Super" Typhoon, "Ioke," aproaching Wake Island and might even reach the Northern Marianna Islands. Sustained winds are above 155 mph, and have been recorded as reaching as high as 185 mph.

Lets review:
Ernesto: Tropical depression, 45 mph winds, 1-3 foot surge
John: Catagory 4 hurricane, 135 mph winds, 18 foot surge
Ioke: Catagory 5 "Super" Typhoon, 155-185 mph winds, surge unknown

I am often very disappointed with the news services around here. If it's not happing to the US, to US citizens, or places where the US has an active interest, it might as well not be happening at all. If you want to hear about some of this stuff, you have to go out and hunt it down yourself.

Not exactly, although I do have socialist leanings. And remember, being communist does not mean you support the restriction of information. Now, if you are a "Stalinist" then it's a different issue.

People keep asking that question here. You'd think they'd just read the comments in your old posts, assume the answer (accurate or otherwise), build a bridge, and get over it.

i just found out (this year) that i'm a socialist. Who knew?? All my friends, apparently. I always thought I was closest to libertarian. But you're right, RH. Of all the bleeding-heart liberal media I absorb, it was actually my Verizon v-cast news that alerted me to John. And I never heard about Ioke. I propose that you start an alternative news feed where you let us know this kind of stuff. Of course, I've tried to suggest this to other newshounds in the past and had no success. But you get back on the horse, KWIM?

Hey Rogue,

I thought you knew, we the press, are constantly covering storm news here in the U.S.A. and abroad.

Hurricane "George" has been felt globaly and nearly every country has suffered losses in its wake. Entire towns have been razed as bomb scattered skies have rained down over the years leaving people to scramble for cover.

It's 1,000 mile a minute winds have stirred up debate around the nation and is causing many to flee to countries such as Canada and Costa Rico.

Don't you pick on us news people until you have all your facts straight, LOL!

e_doe,
As much as I might like to play the Rogue Journalist in addition to the Rogue Historian, I'm simply afraid I have too much on my plate as it is. I will do what I can as time permits, but there is only so much one man can do. If you're looking for some fun news, be sure to check out jbwritergirl's blog - great stuff!
